CRUMBS

I can't believe that Saturday morning I will be on a plane headed back to LA,and that this experience is coming to an end! Before writing my last blog entry in the city, this post will be about the last few weeks and funny things that have happened.

So July 8th, Travis came for a visit and it was his birthday. We went to this super fun bar in the East Village called Pianos. The DJ upstairs was amazing, and played the best music. One of the highlights of my experience here was when the song Empire State of Mind began to play and looking my boyfriend in the eyes and saying, I will remember this moment for the rest of my life. Living in New York at 21 years old, singing that song, celebrating his birthday, feeling on top of the world, and invincible.

Being here has forced me to grow and learn not only things about myself, but also my perspective on life in general.

Last weekend, my big brother Dustin came to visit, we went out as well but had a different kind of experience. We went into this really cool bar called Welcome to the Johnsons. It is suppose to be where Drew Barrymore hangs out when she comes to the city. It is soo cool inside, it literally looks like someone's basement. There are old family pictures on the wall, old furniture, a pool table with a wicker bowl light hanging over it.

The last bar of the night was a joke, but freaked me out. So my uncle brings us into this bar with a heavy red curtain in front of the entrance. So we pass through the curtain and the room is packed with young guys, allllll guys and the only kid friendly thing I can mention seeing in the bar was a picture of the purple Teletubbie! Everything else in that room is x-rated and won't be mentioned. I am hoping that with time the images in my head will eventually go away permanently!

So after bar hopping we decided to head home, but of course we needed to pee. Being in New York and needing the bathroom do not go together. People don't realize this, but bathrooms are hard to come by in the city. You are lucky if you can sneak into a Starbucks and use their dirty bathroom, and only hope there is toilet paper available. We ended up in a pizza/deli restaurant with a bathroom.

We are waiting in line behind this guy, we wait for maybe 5 minutes and then he says I'm leaving, good luck, I have been standing here forever. So were like great, we keep waiting for almost 10 minutes and knocking on the door. And my brother decides to ask one of the workers, do you have a key to the bathroom, or is someone in there? He replies, I have the key, but you have to be a customer. So my brother says you saw us standing there why didn't you say something? The guy says I don't care about that, but my brother buys a bottle of water, and says why didn't you tell me sooner, you could have made money faster. He says I don't care about making money. Which makes no sense since he made my bro buy something to get the key!

So we all use the bathroom and let the girl behind us use it too, the key was attached to a plate. My uncle threw the plate away and my brother ripped the key off and snuck it out of the place in his pocket! Once outside he drops it into a hole of the sewer cap thing in the street. I know this is horrible and what sounds crazier is that the next day we kept receiving bad news. Its like this act started a chain of events, but karma is karma boo.

Anyways after this we decided we were hungry and got pizza slices and finally went home! My experiences of going out here are definitely different from home but it is really fun just wayyy crowded. Plus you see a lot of people using/on drugs, and being drunk. Yet, I feel like that is everywhere.

On a positive note...Every Saturday I buy an iced coffee, a donut, and lottery ticket. I NEVER win anything on my tickets, but this past Saturday, my LAST Saturday and LAST chance I won!! $2!

My last post will come soon and my heart is full of appreciation and lessons that I look forward to sharing with you all.

Another great moment of the summer was receiving a $50 bill and a note from my grandpa, saying that he heard I was broke so here was half of his casino winnings right before celebrating my grandma and his 50th wedding anniversary. So sweet =]

Burberry news: Yesterday I got to travel to Bloomingdale's with one of the merchandisers to help him install an image in the store. Tomorrow I get to go to the Marriott Hotel for a fashion show. I have to work with models! Today all of the interns had afternoon tea and sandwiches with the president of the company. She told us how she got to where she is now and tons of advice. She was so insightful and open to all of us. Friday I am making a video for school, maybe I'll post it online if its not too embarassing. This week is pretty hectic. This internship has been an amazing experience, I have learned a lot but it is certainly time to go home. It is shocking how many times people drop the F bomb in the office. Just seeing the clothes and touching them all makes everything worth it though. I love fashion and I love being in the center of it!

Also for everyone reading, I know that you are reading this, so why don't you comment?

Stay tuned for my last post ever!!

Catch up

I have not written in 2 weeks, all I have to say is, sorry!! I have been lazy in my free time. So the point of this blog will be to give you a BRIEF summary of the past 2 weeks here.

Let's start with Burberry, still fun and crazy. I got a desk right next to my boss instead of my old one on the complete opposite end of the office. The showroom has been broken down and put back together for men's market which starts this week. Last weekend for the 4th of July I went to the Woodbury Commons outlet mall to find some steals and deals! Its really far though so we rented a car. We thought it would be a pratical Toyota, that was black or white, grey, something simple because we could see all the cars pulling out... and look what they gave us:

The clown car

There is a Burberry store there where things were 30% off PLUS my lovely 50% off discount! So I got a jacket and a wallet. And if you know me fairly well, you know how much I love crazy Betsey Johnson, they were having a buy one get one free sale on anything! So I bought a handbag and got a black party dress for free. Here is the bag:

Recently a new Forever 21 opened in Times Square. It is 4 floors, and is gorgeous inside! I got to go for the first time with my boyfriend. There are different departments and each with a funky mannequin display. One display is a group of mannequins chilling on and around a NYC taxi that is painted with graffiti and has fluorescent lights inside.

The last weekend of June was the gay pride parade. It was so interesting and people's costumes were either over the top or not enough. Haha

These two men are so cute! 53 years together, I can only imagine how hard it must have been for them so long ago.

From Real Housewives:

Fourth of July Macy's fireworks in the Park:

Monday we were off in observance of the 4th, so we took a train to Long Island Beach. I was concerned with not looking so good on the beach, because I like excercising and being somewhat tan before going. Not to be mean or anything, but as soon as I got off the train I realized this was not a beauty beach. People were not in shape, full of cellulite, and looking rough. So I really did not feel bad eating Burger King before hitting the sand! The ocean was the Atlantic and it was FREEZING, by freezing I mean as soon as the water hit your toes they went numb. It felt like ice, like the ocean water was fresh out of the fridge! There were adults and children playing in the water, I don't know how since it was unbearably cold. There is no way I could have gotten completely into the water.

This post is pretty boring. I should have posted a long time ago, because this one is too full. Next one will be better! Till next time...
